Correlation function of spin noise due to atomic diffusion

چکیده
We use paramagnetic Faraday rotation to study spin noise spectrum from unpolarized Rb vapor in a tightly focused probe beam in the presence of N2 buffer gas. We derive an analytical form for the diffusion component of the spin noise time-correlation function in a Gaussian probe beam. We also obtain analytical forms for the frequency spectrum of the spin noise in the limit of a tightly focused or a collimated Gaussian beam in the presence of diffusion. In particular, we find that in a tightly focused probe beam the spectral line shape can be independent of the buffer gas pressure. Experimentally, we find good agreement between the calculated and the measured spin noise spectra for N2 gas pressures ranging from 56 to 820 Torr.

Interaction of atomic hydrogen with monometallic Au(100), Cu(100), Pt(100) surfaces and surface of bimetallic Au@Cu(100), Au@Pt(100) overlayer systems: The role of magnetism
The spin-polarized calculations in generalized gradient approximation density–functional theory (GGA–DFT) have been used to show how the existence of second metals can modify the atomic hydrogen adsorption on Au (100), Cu (100), and Pt (100) surfaces. The computed adsorption energies for the atomic hydrogen adsorbed at the surface coverage of 0.125 ML (monolayer) for the monometallic Au (100), ...
متن کاملSpin lifetime in small ensembles of electron spins measured by magnetic resonance force microscopy
Magnetic resonance force microscopy can enable nanoscale imaging of spin lifetime. We report temperaturedependent measurements of the spin correlation time τm of the statistical fluctuations of the spin polarization—the spin noise—of ensembles containing ∼100 electron spins by this technique. Magnetomechanical relaxation due to spin-cantilever coupling was controlled and spurious mechanisms tha...
متن کاملInfluence of confined geometry on nuclear spin relaxation and self-diffusion in liquid indium
The spin-lattice relaxation times for the In isotope in liquid indium embedded into artificial opals and porous glass were found to be shortened remarkably compared to the bulk indium melt. The spin relaxation acceleration was ascribed mainly to the enhancement of the quadrupole contribution caused by the translational diffusion in liquid indium; the magnetic contribution was implied unchanged ...
متن کاملSpin-exchange-relaxation-free magnetometry with Cs vapor
We describe a Cs atomic magnetometer operating in the spin-exchange-relaxation-free SERF regime. With a vapor cell temperature of 103 °C we achieve intrinsic magnetic resonance widths B=17 G corresponding to an electron spin-relaxation rate of 300 s−1 when the spin-exchange rate is SE=14 000 s −1. We also observe an interesting narrowing effect due to diffusion. Signal-to-noise measurements yie...
متن کاملSuppression of spin projection noise in broadband atomic magnetometry.
We demonstrate that quantum nondemolition measurement, combined with a suitable parameter estimation procedure, can improve the sensitivity of a broadband atomic magnetometer by reducing uncertainty due to spin projection noise. Furthermore, we provide evidence that real-time quantum feedback control offers robustness to classical uncertainties, including shot-to-shot atom number fluctuations, ...
